Katie is a freelance dance artist, teacher and choreographer based in Scotland. Originally from Aberdeen, she trained at Rambert School, and worked with Rambert Company during her third year.
Since graduating, Katie has worked with companies and artists including National Theatre Scotland/Lies Pauwels, Company Chordelia, Scottish Opera, Simon Fildes/Wyn Pottratz, Barrowland Ballet. She worked on Turner Prize winner Tai Shanis’ DC Seminaris and has worked and toured internationally with Éowyn Emerald and Dancers over the past 8 years. Katie has created work for multiple festivals and events across the UK including Manipulate Visual Theatre Festival, the Aberdeen Artists Society, Scottish International Storytelling Festival, Hidden Door Festival, Dance Live Festival, Dance International Glasgow and for the Peoples Post Code Lottery’s international charity gala with special guest Sir David Attenborough.
Her work SKETCHES and SKETCHES Film Project toured Scotland in 2023 through support from Creative Scotlands Touring Fund for Dance and Theatre and was subsequently programmed as part of the Made in Scotland Showcase as a double bill with her work GLISK. Katie also recently choreographed award winning play LENA written by BAFTA and Olivia award winner Tim Whitnell, which toured the UK in 2023 and was shortlisted for the Scottish Theatre Awards. Katie also choreographed movement for award winning opera animation ‘Josefine’ produced by Scottish Opera.
Katie works in a variety of educational settings, including teaching on the BA Modern Ballet and the BA Dance Artist course at the Royal Conservetoire of Scotland, for Scottish Ballet Engagement classes and she is currently rehearsal director for the National Youth Dance Company of Scotland.
